Z-COM has deployed a fully wireless safety monitoring system on Taiwan's Danhai Light Rail, integrating wireless networking, edge computing, and real-time AI analytics. Each train carries an AG260 5G gateway and zMEC edge platform for continuous pantograph image capture and on-board AI analysis — enabling early detection of arcing or wear anomalies to support preventive maintenance intervention, reduce the burden of manual inspection patrols, and shift from reactive fault response to proactive maintenance management. Roadside APs transmit signal status to drivers for smooth speed control; level crossing foreign object detection triggers immediate wireless alerts. The entire system is wireless — no track-side cabling required.
